freedom

« Back to Glossary Index

The ability to act, speak, and live without improper control or coercion.

In a Christian context, freedom is the ability to live according to God’s truth and design rather than being enslaved to sin, evil desires, or falsehood. True freedom is not merely doing whatever one wants, but living in obedience to God with a clear conscience and the ability to pursue what is good and right.

In other words, freedom has form, and the form is grounded in God’s moral law.
