reproductive justice

« Back to Glossary Index

A political and social framework that advocates abortion rights, contraception access, and related reproductive policies under the language of justice, equality, and human rights. Critics including myself regard the term as a euphemism for abortion advocacy because it shifts attention from the moral status of the unborn child to claims of personal autonomy, social equity, and reproductive freedom, thereby framing access to abortion as a matter of justice rather than as a contested moral issue.
