The cultural revolution being waged over “gender identity” is not a matter of compassion or civil rights—it is a matter of truth versus delusion, science versus ideology, and children’s health versus irreversible harm. Dr. Miriam Grossman, a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist, has spent years exposing the deception at the core of what she rightly calls gender ideology. According to Grossman, this ideology isn’t just misguided—it’s built upon a series of intentional lies designed to reshape society by dismantling biology, undermining families, and silencing dissent.
These lies, now widely accepted in our schools, medical institutions, and government agencies, are not harmless. They’re destructive—and they are targeting our children. Here are fourteen of the most repeated lies promoted by gender activists, dismantled through the clear-eyed lens of Dr. Grossman’s psychiatric and scientific expertise.
1. “Gender is a social construct, separate from biological sex.”
This foundational claim of gender ideology is utterly false. While cultural expressions of gender can vary, biological sex is binary, rooted in chromosomes, and immutable. Denying this creates confusion and corrupts both language and medicine.
2. “Children know their gender identity from a young age and must be affirmed.”
This lie grants children an authority they are not equipped to bear. Children are still developing cognitively and emotionally. Affirmation-only approaches bypass psychological assessment and fast-track children into harmful pathways. Kids need loving guidance, not affirmation of confusion.
3. “Puberty blockers are safe and reversible.”
This is a dangerous falsehood. Puberty blockers interrupt natural development and can lead to permanent sterility, stunted growth, bone loss, and sexual dysfunction. They are not a pause button—they are the first step toward medical transition, usually followed by cross-sex hormones.
4. “Medical transition reduces suicide.”
This claim is used to emotionally blackmail parents. But high-quality, long-term studies show no reduction in suicide rates after transition. The real problem is often unaddressed mental health issues. Dr. Grossman calls this the “transition or die” lie—a tactic of coercion, not care.
5. “Misgendering is violence.”
Disagreeing with someone’s chosen pronouns is not violence. It is speech—and often, it is truth. Labeling truth as violence is a tool of totalitarianism, used to silence dissent and criminalize conscience.
6. “You can be born in the wrong body.”
This phrase is a psychological and theological lie. Our bodies are not mistakes. The concept that a boy can be “trapped in a girl’s body” (or vice versa) fosters body hatred and encourages disassociation from reality.
7. “Gender identity is innate and unchangeable.”
This isn’t supported by science. Gender identity is influenced by social environment, mental health, and trauma. Many young people who identify as trans later detransition after realizing their identity was a response to deeper pain.
8. “Desistance is rare.”
In truth, studies show that up to 80–90% of gender-dysphoric children eventually come to accept their biological sex—if they aren’t socially or medically transitioned. Gender clinics know this but hide it from parents.
9. “Affirmation is the only ethical approach.”
This is ideology masquerading as medicine. Grossman argues that it is unethical to affirm a delusion without exploring the psychological and emotional issues underneath it. Affirmation silences inquiry.
10. “Transition care is settled science.”
Far from it. The evidence base is weak and politically manipulated. In fact, countries like Sweden, Finland, and the United Kingdom have dramatically rolled back access to gender treatments for minors after independent reviews exposed the lack of scientific support.
11. “Teen girls need mastectomies to match their identity.”
This is medical malpractice. Teenage girls—often struggling with depression or autism—are undergoing double mastectomies within months of a gender dysphoria diagnosis. These are irreversible surgeries performed on minors who cannot consent to the long-term consequences.
12. “Non-binary and fluid genders are valid identities.”
These labels are subjective feelings, not objective categories. There is no scientific basis for the existence of a “third gender.” Medicine should not bend to ideological constructs.
13. “Parents who oppose transitioning their child are abusive.”
This lie inverts reality. Good parents set boundaries and protect their children from dangerous experiments. State coercion that removes children from loving homes because of non-affirmation is government overreach of the highest order.
14. “Only gender-affirming care saves lives.”
This mantra silences debate. But medicalization is not the only—or the best—path forward. Therapy, family support, and time often bring clarity and peace. Affirmation-first policies deny these life-giving alternatives.
The “Castro Consensus” and the Global Ideological Agenda
Dr. Grossman refers to the current global push for gender ideology as the “Castro Consensus”—a term not derived from Fidel Castro, but from San Francisco’s Castro District, a historic hub of radical sexual politics. From there, a movement was born that rejects traditional morality, redefines family structure, and demands the erasure of biological sex.
This “consensus” isn’t scientific—it’s ideological. It’s enforced not through reason but through institutional capture, legal coercion, and emotional blackmail. Medical associations, schools, and governments now operate under the unspoken rule: affirm or be punished. Grossman warns that this is not progress; it’s a new orthodoxy that punishes heresy and suppresses dissent.
In many Western countries, medical professionals are being investigated for questioning these practices. Teachers are being forced to use false pronouns or risk their jobs. Parents are being told they must affirm their child’s confusion or risk losing custody. The “Castro Consensus” demands allegiance to a lie, and the casualties are the young and vulnerable.
Truth, Courage, and the Way Forward
Dr. Grossman’s call is not to hate or ridicule those who struggle with gender confusion—but to offer truth in love. We must restore biological reality, psychiatric integrity, and parental rights. That begins with confronting these lies and protecting the next generation from an ideology that promises liberation but delivers brokenness.
We cannot remain silent. Truth matters. Biology matters. And our children matter more than the feelings of activists or the dictates of ideologues.
Let the truth be spoken—even if the world demands silence.

Dr. Miriam Grossman describes the origins of gender ideology. Professor John Money, associated withJohns Hopkins, is commonly attributed as the father of gender ideology. He experimented on a boy, David Reimer, that lost his penis during a circumcision accident. David was surgically altered and given the appearance of female genitalia. Money experimented with him over time. Some of the experiments involved sexual activity between David and his twin brother, Brian. Money became extremely angry and abusive when David resisted his therapy. David committed suicide later in life, following the death of his brother, Brian, from drug overdose.
The fact that he was associated with Johns Hopkins should cause thinking people to lose their enamorment with medical professionals.
Jordan Peterson interviews Chloe Cole, who detransitioned from gender transition treatments. The LGBT community treats detransitioners with contempt, alienation and hatred because they are not supposed to exist.
